"Drink responsibly." "Don't drink and drive." Apparently these disclaimers that we see in most, if not all, beer commercials, come from a provision by the Distilled Spirits Council of the United States (DISCUS ... I feel like they could've come up with a better acronym, though none come to my mind). This provision has ads for alcohol encourage responsible drinking, from their Code of Responsible Practices. Who knew these things existed?
However, as much as these ads tell you to drink responsibly, they fail because of their lack of describing what it means to 'drink responsibly.' So here's some possible qualifiers,
1. 'Drink only enough, such that your parents will not be horrified at the amount you drank.'
2. 'Drink cheaply.'
3. 'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.'
4. ...
It's actually pretty difficult to qualify this..
